PyShare is a collection of scripts that let you upload images, screenshots or other files to ImageShack, TwitPic or Rapidshare via right clicking the files in Nautilus.

The application then displays a list of links in the notification area so you can easily copy the direct links, HTML, forum code and so on:

FatRat is the big brother of SlimRat (or is it fat brother?) which we previously covered HERE. So what is it? Well, it's an open source download manager for Linux but not an ordinary one. Read on!


FatRat comes with many very interesting options. For one, it can download from HTTP(S)/FTP, RapidShare free and even YouTube. But FatRat can also download torrents, (it has BitTorrent support) has RSS feed support + special functions for TV shows and podcasts, support for SOCKS5 and HTTP proxies and even remote control via Jabber and a web interface and of course, a scheduler. FatRat has way to many options to list them here so check it out for yourself by installing FatRat (instructions further down).

Slimrat is a Linux download manager which can download files from the following online file hosting services: rapidshare, megaupload, metafire, easyshare, czshare, datahu, depozitshare, fastload, fastshare, filefactory, filehive, freakshare, hotfile, sharebase, youtube, zshare and many other including a direct download if there is no plugin available for a certain service.

Slimrat is lightweight, it can download multiple files and once and comes with both a GUI and a CLI. Another very interesting Slimrat feature is the automatic captcha solving based on an tesseract-ocr library.

Using Rapid8, there is no need to "sign out, delete cookies and reconnect with a different IP". It allows you to download any files shared and hosted on RapidShare, Megaupload, MegaShares, Easy-Share, MegaVideo, MegaPorn Video, NetLoad.in and Hotfile directly, by using premium accounts but you can use it from their website, for free.

The operation is very simple: you enter the URL of the file and press "Download", then a "Begin your download" button will be displayed and clicking it, you will start downloading you files without any other input from your side. This way, you get your files ready to download, no-code verification or further time loss.

Basically, what rapid8 does is download the files to their server and you download your files from rapid8 instead of Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc.

JDownloader, the open source, platform independent Rapidshare, Megaupload (and others) download application, has been updated to version 0.7 (7.569).

JDownloader simplifies downloading files from One-Click-Hosters like Rapidshare.com or Megaupload.com - not only for users with a premium account but also for users who don't pay. It offers downloading in multiple paralell streams, captcha recognition, automatical file extraction and much more. Of course, JDownloader is absolutely free of charge. Additionally, many "link encryption" sites are supported - so you just paste the "encrypted" links and JD does the rest.

The most important, noticeable change is that JDownloader 0.7 (7.569) is a lot faster than the previous versions. Another interesting change is that now it supports anti-captcha for more than 60 websites. Read on to see a list of other important changes.

What's New in 0.7

LoadEvery is a search engine for RapidShare, MegaUpload and similar sites which currently includes 30 sites for file sharing. The search may take place simultaneously in all or only in the websites you select and you can filter the results by the type of content you want: mp3, torrent, doc, images and video.

Upload Mirrors is a website that lets you upload a file to multiple hosting services at once. You just have to choose the file from our computer and select the servers you want to upload.

Such tools are excellent for saving time and work and the assurance that if the archive is no longer available on one site, it will be on another one.

Another similar service is Gazup.

SkipScreen is Firefox extension which once you install, the splash screens on popular file sharing services, that show you advertisements and encourage you to upgrade to premium service to avoid having to wait, are a thing of the past. We already covered an file & image upload utility but Rightload can be used from the context menu and once the files are uploaded it can even generate links or image tags.


Rightload is a Windows application that makes short work of uploading files to almost any server, whether you have your own FTP or just want to quickly send images to Flickr.

After the installation, go to Tools > Manage Servers to configure your accounts. Rightload supports FTP, SFTP and Flickr out of the box, but you can get more plugins from the download page, including Imageshack, Rapidshare, and Tinypic. After configuring, you can upload files by dragging them into the window or, as i said, from the context menu (you just right-click on the files, select the server and target folder and Rightload will do the rest for you).

There are also a lot of additional features for advanced users including:

* Creating a list of uploaded files in BB-Code or HTML to paste into forums or websites

Rapidshare is still offering one of the most popular file hosting services on the Internet despite the recent changes to the core system that have capped the downloads for premium users at 2.66 Gigabytes per day.

Rapidstack is a realtime Rapidshare Search Engine. What does that mean? Unlike many other Rapidshare search engines it will scan the links before they are displayed in the search results. Only links that are found to be working will be listed while all others will be excluded from the list.

The interface is making use of Ajax to display new results as soon as they have been scanned by the search engine. Rapidstack will display the amount of total links as well as the good and bad ones. Each search result displays the title, url and the amount of links that have been found.

The search results provide access to two functions. The first is to click on the title of a search result to visit the website that is linking to Rapidshare. The second is to extract all Rapidshare links on that specific page of the website. This will open a list of Rapidshare links which can be comfortably pasted into a Rapidshare download software.

A great alternative to Rapidstack is crawlrapidshare, which also checks links for validity, uses ajax and does not link to the original post, but only to the file links. I found this one more relevant. As you can see, looking at the two print-screens, i searched for Pantera using both rapidshare search engines and Rapidstack's results had nothing to do with the trash-metal band Pantera while crawlrapidshare found almost only Pantera band related links. But that was just one search so better try them yourself and see which one's better.

I've tried many download managers for rapidshare and megaupload, but i like jDownloader the most.
