Install Epiphany 3.2.0 With Web Application Mode In Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot

Epiphany 3.2.0

GNOME 3.2 got a "web application mode" through Epiphany web browser, allowing you to save websites as web apps. These web apps show up as regular applications in both GNOME Shell and Unity and can be pinned to GNOME Shell's Dash or Unity's launcher, etc. More about them in this post: GNOME 3.2 to get web application mode.

Here is WebUpd8 saved as a web application through Epiphany (using a custom icon) under GNOME 3.2 and Unity:

Chrome Web Apps Come To Linux Too

chrome web apps

Google Chrome got web apps a few days ago, which initially only worked for Windows - but starting today they're available for Linux too. These are basically just pinned tabs but with a bigger (and .png instead of .ico) favicon which looks cool but doesn't do anything extra from what I can tell after testing it for about 10 minutes or so.

Online Office In Ubuntu With Zoho Webservice

Canonical developer Jamie Bennett presented a new project 2 days ago: Zoho Webservice, which is basically the online office suite Zoho (which comes with tools such as: Presentations, Spreadsheet and Word Processor), but with Ubuntu integration.

Zoho was chosen over Google Docs because it does not require the user to log in to use it, so using Zoho Webservice in Ubuntu, all you have to do is double click a file and read / edit it online. You can get online storage with Zoho if you do register, but if you choose not to you can still get a full featured experience.

Jelli Online Radio Lets Users Pick Their Own Music [Social Radio]

Jelli

Jelli is a really nice concept for social music: it is an online radio station for which the users decide which songs get added to any of the stations and the music being played is based on these "votes" by all the users online. To listen to a station, all you have to do is add the .m3u playlist to any music/media player such as VLC, etc. The website also comes with a chat for each radio stations, meaning it has basically every feature a social web radio needs.
