Selene: A Cool, "Almost Dark" GTK3 Theme Based On elementary

Selene is an "almost dark" theme based on elementary GTK theme, inspired by the old Atolm GTK2 theme.

The pack comes with both GTK2 and GTK3 themes and optionally, a GNOME Shell theme. According to its author, the GTK2 theme isn't completely finished and you may find some minor bugs, but an improved version should be available soon.

holo gtk3 theme

Holo is a cool new GNOME 3 theme pack created by Tiheum (the Faenza icon theme designer) that tries to mimic the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich theme.

Holo was initially called "Ice Cream Sandwich" and only included a GNOME Shell theme, but a recent update brought matching GTK3 and GTK2 themes too.

Install MIB-Ubuntu Plymouth Theme (Based On Mandriva 2010.1) In Ubuntu

MIB Ubuntu Plymouth theme

Antoni, the author of Pinguy OS sent us a tip on installing MIB-Ubuntu Plymouth theme in Ubuntu - that's a theme based on Mandriva 2010.1 - and I must say, it looks amazing!

To install MIB-Ubuntu Plymout theme, do the following:

Firstly, download it from Deviantart.

Then extract the contents of the zip to your home folder, then open a terminal and run this (firstly navigate to the folder where you extracted it using a terminal; if you extracted it on your Desktop, that would be: cd ~/Desktop):
sudo cp -R MIB-Ubuntu/ /lib/plymouth/themes/
sudo update-alternatives --install /lib/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth default.plymouth /lib/plymouth/themes/MIB-Ubuntu/MIB-Ubuntu.plymouth 100
sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth #here, choose the number of the theme you want to use then hit enter
sudo update-initramfs -u

Please note that I didn't test this (I'd had to fix my Plymouth all over again and I don't have time right now), but Antoni tested it (in fact he sent us the installation instructions too) so it will work if you follow that exact steps.

Many thanks to Antoni for the tip!

Elementary Icon Theme For Empathy Updated (Elementary Empathy 2)

elementary empathy 2

Speaking of Elementary, WebUpd8 reader MastroPino just released a new version of his Elementary Empathy icon theme.

The theme uses monochrome icons for the panel and colored icons for the interface of the program: they include states (online, busy, away, etc) but also the action, if there is a new message, and applications, the two stars are been replaced.

The latest Elementary Empathy 2 adds new icons: user-typing, pendind request and extended away.

To use it, grab Elementary Empathy 2 from DeviantArt and extract them to the ~/.icons/hicolor/ folder.

Special thanks to MastroPino for the tip!

Script To Install The Latest Elementary Theme And Icons From BZR (Now More Gorgeous Than Ever!)

elementary theme ubuntu

I don't know about you, but I for one am a big fan of Elementary: the theme, icons and Nautilus Elementary.

The Elementary Theme and icons from BZR got more gourgeous day by day and for this reason I want to constantly update to the latest version. This is why I've created a simple bash script which downloads and installs the latest Elementary theme and icons from BZR.

Here are just a few of the changes in the latest Elementary Theme from BZR:

Ubuntu Radiance Firefox Theme

firefox radiance

There are already Radiance and Ambiance themes for Google Chrome. But how about Firefox? I mean, Firefox doesn't look exactly ugly without a theme, but I still find it really nice to make the Radiance color consistent within Firefox.

I just saw @ ubuntulife an userChrome.css style for Firefox which makes the Ubunu Radiance consistent through Firefox (and looks like in the screenshot in the beginning of the post).
