elementary theme ubuntu

I don't know about you, but I for one am a big fan of Elementary: the theme, icons and Nautilus Elementary.

The Elementary Theme and icons from BZR got more gourgeous day by day and for this reason I want to constantly update to the latest version. This is why I've created a simple bash script which downloads and installs the latest Elementary theme and icons from BZR.

Here are just a few of the changes in the latest Elementary Theme from BZR:

  • started using Equinox GTK engine too
  • new sexy midori tabbar and statusbar workaround
  • special toolbar/menubar rules for nautilus
  • minimal range for Nautilus
  • Terminal style
  • awasome sexy panel, now with prelight
  • scrollbars with no steppers (which you can preview in the screenshot below)
  • a lot more!

Besides the regular Elementary icons, there are some new Elementary icons: "Luminosity" - purple, and "Greeny" - green icons (but Greeny is not finished yet):

Before proceeding with the instalation, please note that you're about to install the Elementary Theme and icons from BZR, not an official version so some things are not finished yet or will change in the future.

To use the latest Elementary theme (will only work for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx as there is no Equinox package for Karmic!), the script will install the Equinox, Aurora and Murrine GTK engines (I've updated it to do this so you don't have to do anything manually) and also BZR so it can download the packages from Launchpad. This being said, simply use the commands below to install the latest Elementary GTK theme and icons from BZR (as usual, always check the code of a script before running it!):

wget http://webupd8.googlecode.com/files/install-elementary-3 && chmod +x install-elementary-3
./install-elementary-3
If you're using this script more than one time, open the script with a text editor and look for the text where it says to uncomment some lines.

And because it's so gorgeous, here is yet another screenshot with Nautilus Elementary and Elementary theme / icons:

Bonus: Here is also a Window Applets (click here if you don't know what this is) Elementary buttons theme: HERE.
