Test Websites In Internet Explorer 9, 8 and 7 Under Linux / Mac OSX

Microsoft has created some customized Windows VHDs with the purpose of allowing web designers to test websites in Internet Explorer 9, 8 and 7, for free. To make it easier to set up, xdissent has created a Mac OSX / Linux script that will download the required files, extract them, install the latest VirtualBox guest additions and so on.


BlueGriffon Web (WYSIWYG) Editor Reaches Version 1.0

WYSIWYG is an acronym for what you see is what you get. The term is used in computing to describe a system in which content displayed during editing appears very similar to the final output, which might be a printed document, web page, or slide presentation. [via Wikipedia]

BlueGriffon, an open source, cross-platform WYSIWYG editor has reached version 1.0. You can use it to edit / design web pages and supports CSS3 and HTML5, web forms, web fonts and more.

How To Block The Falling Snow On Websites

December is that month of the year when 90% of the blogs teach you how to 'install' falling snow on your website (but they use the method described in this post to disable it for themselves) and about 0.1% tell you how to disable it.

There are two snow scripts (javascript) that I know of, which we are going to block using AdBlock Plus Firefox extension. After installing the extension, right click the AdBlock Plus icon and select "Preferences", scroll down to "Blocking rules", select any blocked item, select "Add New" end enter:
