Hamachi GUI For Linux `Haguichi` 1.0.18 Released

Haguichi is a GUI for the Hamachi Linux client which features fully customizable commands, network list, notifications and an optional Ubuntu AppIndicator.

For those not familiar with Hamachi, this is a VPN tool that's useful for establishing direct links between computers that are behind firewalls. Basically, Hamachi creates a connection over the Internet that emulates a local area network. It can be used for online gaming, remote desktop access, file sharing, etc.

Haguichi (Hamachi GUI) 1.0.7 Gets AppIndicator Support

Haguichi

Haguichi is a popular Hamachi (including Hamachi2) GUI for Gnome.

Haguichi 1.0.7 has been released, the big news being that it finally adds AppIndicator support so you don't need to tweak the notification area in Ubuntu 11.04 to get Hamachi to show up (but of course, the AppIndicator works in older Ubuntu versions too).

As usual, I've updated the Haguichi PPA (this is basically the official PPA) so you can easily stay up to date with new versions in Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04.

Jupiter 0.0.48 has been released yesterday and is now available in the Jupiter WebUpd8 PPA. This update corrects multiple issues with WIFI and Bluetooth toggles. Also, Jupiter now has an website - check it out @ jupiterapplet.org.

Haguichi is a Hamachi and Hamachi2 GUI for Gnome.

"Hamachi establishes a connection over the Internet that emulates the connection that would exist if the computers were connected over a local area network." So it's like a LAN over the internet which you can use to browse shares or play games that only work on LAN (among others). We've covered Haguichi quite a few times so read our previous posts for more info.

A new Haguichi version (1.0.3) has been released today which adds theme specific panel icons for Humanity, Ambiance, Radiance, Elementary and Elementary Dark.

Here's the complete Haguichi 1.0.3 changelog:

Firstly, an introduction so you'll know what this is about:
  • Hamachi is a zero-configuration virtual private network (VPN) application capable of establishing direct links between computers that are behind NAT firewalls without requiring reconfiguration (in most cases); in other words, it establishes a connection over the Internet that emulates the connection that would exist if the computers were connected over a local area network.
  • Haguichi provides a graphical frontend for Hamachi on Linux that integrates smoothly into your GNOME desktop.
