Haguichi is a GUI for the Hamachi Linux client which features fully customizable commands, network list, notifications and an optional Ubuntu AppIndicator.

For those not familiar with Hamachi, this is a VPN tool that's useful for establishing direct links between computers that are behind firewalls. Basically, Hamachi creates a connection over the Internet that emulates a local area network. It can be used for online gaming, remote desktop access, file sharing, etc.

Haguichi

Haguichi 1.0.18, which has been released a couple of days ago, introduces the following changes:
  • Implemented a workaround for addresses being cut off in "hamachi list" command since LogMeIn started using the 25/8 address space. This workaround only works for online members.
  • The IPv6 address of a member is now ignored when an alias is set, because in that case the IPv6 address doesn't work.
  • The network list now immediately reflects network ownership once determined.
  • Improved retrieval of long nicknames.
  • Now using a slightly faster method to check the internet connection.
  • Other minor fixes, improvements and optimizations.

Install Haguichi in Ubuntu

Firstly, download and install Hamachi for Linux. Then, add the Haguichi PPA and install it under Ubuntu using the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/haguichi
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install haguichi haguichi-appindicator

The PPA is available for Ubuntu Quantal, Precise, Oneiric, Natty, Maverick and Lucid and, starting today, for Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail.

For other Linux distributions, see the Haguichi downloads page.
