Sid Meier`s Civilization V Game Available On Steam For Linux


A while back, some steamdb changes revealed that Sid Meier's Civilization V will probably be available for Linux. The official confirmation came today, when Aspyr Media announced that the game is finally available for Linux (via Steam).

Most of you already know the game called Freeciv, a a Free and Open Source empire-building strategy game inspired by the history of human civilization, inspired by the commercial proprietary Sid Meier's Civilization series. A browser based fork of the Freeciv game has been released, so now you only need a browser to play this great game.

Freeciv.net was released on 13 December and it's Facebook integration came today as a great addition for Facebook fans. There are currently more than 1500 registered players, in less than a month from it's release date. Hopefully, more people will find out about this great game and will start playing!

FreeCol 0.9.0 (Colonization Strategy Game Clone) Released [Windows, Linux, Mac OS X]

After several months of development, the FreeCol developers have finally released version 0.9.0.

FreeCol is a clone of Colonization, a turn-based strategy game themed on the early European colonization of the New World, starting in 1492 and lasting until 1850. However, Freecol has a new set of redesigned graphics and with time, it also incorporated ideas that didn't make the final version of Colonization, as well as requests by fans and original concepts like new European players and race bonuses.

Released under the GNU General Public License, FreeCol is free and open source software, running on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
