Vivek Gite @ Cyberciti has a really nice tip for the "history" command. Normally, running the command "history" in a terminal will give you an output which looks like this:

Tab History Menu is a Firefox add-on which gives you access to the history of a tab, by clicking on it. Basically, you get a list with all the pages you've visited within that tab and you can either go back to that page or open it in a new tab, by clicking the middle mouse button (wheel).

I find this Firefox extension very useful, especially because you can remove the back and forward buttons from your toolbar to make some room. This, with some other tweaks would allow you to create the ultimate minimal Firefox window, especially good for laptops and netbooks.

Breadcrumbs is a search engine for your personal browsing history that comes as a Firefox add-on. Breadcrumbs saves your visited pages and allows you to search your pages from the search toolbar. It stores data locally to protect your privacy but you can access it remotely if you want or add another computer, to combine the search results (such as adding your work computer to be able to search the browsing history from your home computer, etc.).

But what I like the best about Breadcrumbs search for Firefox is that using it to search for a page, you can browse completely offline.

Another great Firefox history add-on is History Tree.

History Tree is a browsing history Firefox add-on which shows your browsing history as a tree diagram and a grid of web-page screenshots that you can use to quickly find any page you have visited while browsing. History Tree can either visualize the history of one tab at a time or all tabs at once. Another great thing about History Tree is that it distinguishes between different Firefox windows, something that the default Firefox history manager is not offering as it only displays a combination of all visited pages regardless of the window they have been opened in.

This Firefox extension is indeed the best Firefox history add-on as Ghacks notes but unfortunately, it does not work on Linux.
