Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi, the credit-card sized computers running Linux, are finally available for purchase. For now, only Model B, which costs $35 is on sale and the number of available units is limited to 10.000, so if you want one, hurry!

Also, today's sales are limited to one per customer but you should be able to buy as many as you want in about a month or so.

For those not familiar with Raspberry Pi, here are the system specs:
  • CPU ARM1176JZF-S 700 MHz
  • Storage capacity SD Card Slot (SD or SDHC card)
  • Memory:  256 MiB (it was announced today that both will have 256 MiB)
  • Graphics: Broadcom VideoCore IV, OpenGL ES 2.0 , 1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode

The main difference between Model A and B is that B includes an Ethernet port and 2 USB ports.

To buy the Raspberry Pi, head over to Premier Farnell or RS Components and search for Raspberry Pi. Unfortunately both websites are pretty slow / unreachable right now because apparently, everybody wants a Raspberry Pi.

Update: Raspberry Pi has confirmed on Twitter that the Farnell stock has been sold out and apparently, RS Components is only taking pre-orders for now.
