MintMenu Ubuntu

As you probably know, we maintain a MintMenu Ubuntu PPA. Because of some changes in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, MintMenu failed to work but a package which fixes this was uploaded to Linux Mint 11 so I've uploaded this version to the WebUpd8 MintMenu PPA.

MintMenu is one of the best menu applets for Linux and is developed by the Linux Mint team. The applet doesn't work in Unity but I'm sure those who are still using the classic Ubuntu desktop session will find it useful.

Install MintMenu in Ubuntu from our MintMenu PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/mintmenu
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mintmenu

MintMenu is also available in the main WebUpd8 PPA.

Once installed, right click the GNOME Panel, select "Add to panel" and add "MintMenu".

For the logo, search for an start-here.png icon for the icon theme you're using ("locate start-here"). Here are a few for some popular icon themes:
  • Faenza (for a light panel): /usr/share/icons/Faenza/places/22/start-here-ubuntu.png
  • Faenza Dark (for a dark panel): /usr/share/icons/Faenza-Dark/places/22/start-here-ubuntu.png
  • Humanity (light panel): /usr/share/icons/Humanity/places/22/start-here.svg
  • Humanity Dark (dark panel): /usr/share/icons/Humanity-Dark/places/22/start-here.svg
