Emesene 2

When Emesene 2 was released, we uploaded it to our Unstable PPA, but Emesene 2 now has its own official PPA which was just updated and it now includes the latest Emesene 2.11.5 (released today).

Emesene 2.11.5 comes with around 100 bug fixes since the previous version, an experimental Qt4 GUI (you need to launch Emesene with "-e main:qt4_main" for this), better support for Adium themes (including emoticon themes and support for MSN group chat), drag and drop support in chat window and Ctrl+Tab support for switching tabs.

You can read the Emesene 2.11.5 release announcement here.

Unfortunately some users are still experiencing issues with Emesene (like not being able to login, avatars not being displayed), but these are mostly due to a library called "python-papyon", used by Emesene. Hopefully a new python-papyon version will be released soon and all these issues will be fixed.

Add the Emesene stable PPA and install the latest Emesene 2.11.5 in Ubuntu 11.04:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:emesene-team/emesene-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install emesene

Update: the PPA was updated with fixed packages for Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat and 10.04 Lucid Lynx too (I've only tested it on Ubuntu 10.10 though).
