Ammonkey, the Nautilus Elementary developer managed to get the old ClutterView code back in Nautilus Elementary, for Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat only!

There are a couple of warnings you need to consider before installing it:
  • clutter uses opengl so if your video card doesn't support 3d acceleration, it won't work!
  • use at your own risk! I did not tested Nautilus Elementary for now (but will do so tonight).

This being said, install Nautilus Elementary with ClutterView in Ubuntu 10.10 using the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

You can then launch ClutterView using the "F4" key.

Update: initially the installation instructions in this post included downloading and installing .deb files but the package in the Nautilus Elementary PPA was updated so now the instructions include the official Nautilus Elementary PPA.

Thanks to ammonkey for the screenshot!
