Ubuntu / Linux news and application reviews.

Lugaru HD was a part of the Humble Indie Bundle which allowed users to pay whatever the want for some great cross-platform games. They said they will open-source the games if they reach 1,000,000 - which they did, so all the games are about to be released as open source.

Lugaru HD is a third-person action game available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. The main character, Turner, is an anthropomorphic rebel bunny rabbit with impressive combat skills. In his quest to find those responsible for slaughtering his village, he uncovers a far-reaching conspiracy involving the corrupt leaders of the rabbit republic and the starving wolves from a nearby den. Turner takes it upon himself to fight against their plot and save his fellow rabbits from slavery.

Lugaru HD already became open source (so has Penumbra) and you can easily install it in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx via PlayDeb.

Here is a video with Lugaru HD in action:

You can also watch this video in the new WebM format @ YouTube.

To install Lugaru HD in Ubuntu 10.04, make sure you have the PlayDeb repository added (click here to download a .deb which will do this automatically) and then do an update:
sudo apt-get update

Then simply click HERE to start the installation. If it doesn't start, paste this in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install lugaru

Update: this might be just a demo of Lugaru HD, although this is nowhere stated on Playdeb.net.
