osd lyrics

OSD Lyrics is an application for displaying lyrics in various Linux music players, such as: Amarok 2.0 and 1.4, Audacious, Banshee, Exaile, MOC, Quod Libet, MPD, Rhythmbox, Songbird and XMMS2.

You can customize the colors and font (I for one found the default settings kind of ugly), the website used to download the lyrics and so on:

The application can also be used to control the music player (previous, next, play or pause):

But one thing I couldn't customize was to move the Lyrics OSD to the background - currently the lyrics are displayed on top (of any running application) which I found to be quite annoying. If you find a solution for this, please let us know in the comments!

OSD Lyrics can be downloaded via Google Code. For Ubuntu, you can use a PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:osd-lyrics/ppa

Then install OSD Lyrics:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install osdlyrics

Once installed, you'll find OSD Lyrics under Applications > Sound & Video > OSD Lyrics.
