psi instant messenger

Psi is a free, open source instant messaging application designed for the Jabber IM network (including Google Talk) compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

If you're tired with the Jabber functionality of Empathy or Pidgin, both lacking lots of important features for this protocol, you should give Psi a try. Psi comes with full Unicode support and localizations, easy file transfers, customizable iconsets, and many other great features.

Jabber, also known as XMPP, is used by Google Talk, LiveJournal, Portugal Telecom and Facebook also recently allows you to chat using XMPP.

Install Psi in Ubuntu Linux

The latest version of the Psi instant messenger is available for Ubuntu users @ getdeb.net. If you don't have the getdeb repository added, download THIS deb file, run it and it will do everything automatically. Once you have the GetDeb repository added you can either search for Psi in Synaptic or go to GetDeb.net and click the "install" button on PSI page.

For Windows, Mac OS X and other community contributed packages (for different Linux distros), see the Psi download page.
