If you are having problems with the sound in Linux, not only with it working or not, but mostly from the quality point of view, you may want to try out OSSv4.

- Mixing is done within kernel space, meaning lower latency

- Your card may not be supported
- midi is not supported yet.
- sound recording on generic usb sound devices is not yet implemented, and support for those devices is still considered experimental.
