VLC has yet another hidden feature I just discovered (others might know it, I didn't...). You can listen to 4000+ radio stations without installing any additional software, by just using VLC. Here is how:

First thing: make sure you have the latest VLC version installed. If now: download it from HERE | How to install it in Ubuntu

Then, go to Media > Services Discovery > Shoutcast radio listings:

vlc enable radio stations

Then go to View > Playlist and click on "Shoutcast radio listings" on the left. You should then see a bunch of music genres:

vlc radio

Double click one and you'll see all the radio stations for that genre.

Oh, and there's also a search function (obviously).
