rhythmbox desktop art

The main functions of Desktop Art Rhythmbox plugin (why isn't this default in Rhythmbox, one may wonder...?) is to display covers and information about the current playing song, on your desktop. But hovering the mouse over it, some controls are displayed so you can skip to the next song, etc.

You may download this Rhythmbox plug-in from HERE, and then to use it, open a terminal and paste the following commands:

mkdir -p $HOME/.gnome2/rhythmbox/
mkdir -p $HOME/.gnome2/rhythmbox/plugins/

And in this last folder, unpack the plugin archive you downloaded.

Then, you can activate it by going to Edit > Plugins. For it to work properly, you need to run Compiz!
