How to run Aptana Studio on Linux
First you will need to download the standalone .zip archive and unzippit into say /home/apps/aptana (just an example).
Then you need to check if you have xulrunner 1.8 installed. Please note that if you have Firefox 3+, you may have xulrunner 1.9 so you have to install xulrunner 1.8 too. For Ubuntu, open Synaptic and search for xulrunner and install 1.8 version (1.8 version is called just "xulrunner" so you can just: sudo apt-get install xulrunner) Then you need to check where your xulrunner 1.8 is installed. For me (Ubuntu Intrepid) it's in /usr/lib/xulrunner (1.9 has it's on, different directory). Also, check to see if you have JRE 1.6.x installed and if not, install it.
In the location where you extracted Aptana (in our example: /home/apps/aptana), create an empty file called "runaptana" and paste this inside:

export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/lib/xulrunner
/home/apps/aptana/AptanaStudio
Replace /home/apps/aptana/ with the location where you extracted the archive. Then make the file executable:$ chmod +x runaptana
After that, simply open runaptana and Aptana Studio will open.
