Ubuntu / Linux news and application reviews.

With Firefox 3.5 set to emerge from beta soon, the folks at Mozilla are setting goals for Firefox 3.6. One of the most exciting changes scheduled for that release is the ability to install and activate themes and add-ons without restarting the browser. Sort of. Right now the goal is to develop support for "light" themes and "light" add-ons. It's not entirely clear what that means, but odds are you won't be able to install and activate every Firefox extension without a restart in Firefox 3.6. But it's a start.

Also on deck are features and improvements including:
  • Performance improvements including faster browser startup times, and improved responsiveness
  • Ability to create, save, and restore groups of tabs
  • Improved interface for file uploading
  • Ability to turn web pages into desktop apps (as you can do with Mozilla Prism or Google Chrome)
  • New default theme for Windows that uses Aero Glass
