In 2008, around the world, there were more people using social networks than people using their e-mails, according to a Nielsen study.

67% of the Internet users have used social networks, and only 65,1% of these have used an e-mail service. The first most used activity online was using the search engines.

As an interesting fact, 80% of the Brazilians were visiting social networks, in 2008, as compared to only 51% of the German people.

The most used social network, globally speaking, is Facebook, which is first in most of the countries it is present.

Also, the total time spent on Facebook, has increased in 2008, with 566%, from 3,1 billion minutes in 2007. In 2008, the time spent on Facebook has increased to 20,5 billion minutes.
